At AB Agri, we transport 5 million tonnes of animal feed and ingredients across the UK every year, using third-party hauliers as well as our own vehicles. So, we are very aware of our responsibilities when it comes to the safety of everyone involved. We continuously seek to improve our practices, and incident reporting has now become a contractual obligation for all our hauliers.

Our Target Zero programme aims for no incidents and zero harm when it comes to our people, products and working environments. In May 2019, this was the theme for our second annual Haulier Safety Day which we co-hosted with our sister company, British Sugar.  We had 220 people from 140 different haulage companies attend the event in Peterborough, which included sessions run by the Health and Safety Executive, IOSH Rural Industries Group and Zurich Insurance, as well as our own senior managers.

Safety days like this help us learn from our partners’ insights and work with them to promote the importance of transport safety.
